Worship

Having just endured a long and rancorous election season, and as we now turn toward the holidays, one thing is clear… we live in an in-between time. Our world, our communities, even our own lives remind us that all is not always as it should or could be. And in this in-between space, we hear the promises of Advent, of God With Us, and yet we wonder, when will we actually see that which we hope for? How long must we wait to see the promises of love, peace, mercy, and justice prevail in our own lives, much less our world? The season of Advent invites us to wrestle with these questions, to notice and attend to what is, even as we long for what is not yet. Not only does Advent invite us to attend to the question of when, but also who? Who will bring to fruition these promises we so eagerly await? Who shall bear our long awaited hope?
