Bring Hope
One of the good things about being part of the First Covenant community is, well, being part of the community. When someone is sick, troubled, hospitalized, or not mobile, we want to be intentional about showing compassion in the way described by the Bible, “Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ”
(Galatians 6:2).
That desire to bring real encouragement and support to people who are experiencing tough times is the reason for our Care Team Ministry. Care Team members are volunteers who work together and in our community of faith. People of all ages are part of the team and they come from all walks of life. Our Care Team meets together periodically to share experiences and receive training and tips to be good caregivers and to make each visit meaningful and effective. Members make visits based on their personal schedule and availability.
Care Team members have opportunities to call, visit, listen, and befriend. They often get the immediate reward of gratitude.
“Thank you so much.”
“You are so kind.”
“I needed your encouragement today.”
“Thanks for listening.”
Care Team members Andy and Krystal Lehner sometimes take along their two-year-old daughter, Sadie, when they are visiting an elderly person. The seniors enjoy seeing a child and Sadie loves visiting the “grandparents.”
Are you looking for a meaningful place to invest your time and make a difference? We are looking for more Care Team members for this rewarding ministry. Make friends and bless others. In September, you can join the Care Team in attending a half-day Stephen Ministry Workshop that will give you wonderful insight and skills.
