Maybe you’re looking for opportunities to ask questions…become more deeply and intimately acquainted with God…or find peace. Jesus invited people to follow him and spoke of his followers having life “more abundantly.” Come to experience God. Spiritual formation opportunities at First Covenant include:
Sunday ALL COMMUNITY PRAYER GATHERINGS
Prayer is a vital practice for our community of faith. Each week there is an opportunity for you to join others in prayer. On Sunday mornings, come to the Prayer Chapel off the Main Foyer for a quiet prayer time together. Be transformed by prayer as we seek God to lead and renew our neighborhood and First Covenant.
LIFE-JOURNEY CONVERSATIONS
Are you looking for insight and conversation about your goals…life…future…or issues related to your spiritual journey? Pastor of Spiritual Formation Jennifer Schoenrock is available to talk one-on-one. This is an informal opportunity to process questions, make plans, or just talk. Set up an appointment (612-927-3121 or ).
Honest dialogue
Every Sunday following the worship service during Third Hour (11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) you are invited to gather with others to examine and react to the key messages and principles presented in the sermon. We share perspectives on the sometimes confusing and mixed messages of the Church while also being encouraged to think through a holistic and integrated Christian faith in the 21st century. We aspire to engage one another in honest conversations about difficult matters. You are welcome to join the discussion.
Prayer gatherings
Each week you are invited to gather with others to pray for needs in our community and church. Weekly prayer groups meet on Sundays at 9 a.m. (Note: The second Sunday of every month, the prayer gathering will meet at 8:30 a.m. and end in time for the Hymns, Scripture, & Prayer service.)
Service
Caring for people in our community and world is one significant way to follow in Jesus’ footsteps. There are ongoing needs around us. As a volunteer you can contribute meals and time in First Covenant’s emergency homeless shelter, take Vacation Bible School to Hope Academy, partner with Community Emergency Services, participate in special outreach events… You’ll meet new friends and have more fun than you expected! Check the Upcoming Events calendar or contact Director of Volunteer Engagement, Terry Stromberg (612-927-3120 or ) for more information.
JOURNEY GROUP
Come be part of a small group that meets weekly for 12 sessions finding encouragement and gaining tools for moving beyond the effects of past traumatic events or abuse. A Journey Group is led by trained facilitators from within our church community.
This uniquely non-judgmental group environment is a safe place where participants can experience core biblical concepts as they explore ways to journey toward restoring healthy relationships and new life.
Journey Groups are scheduled regularly throughout the year. For more information or to register, contact Pastor Jennifer Schoenrock () or Pastor Dan Collison ()
This small group ministry is designed to provide a safe place for support and encouragement, but it is not intended as a substitute for mental health, medical, pastoral, legal or other professional services.
